For Parents
Health & Safety
At Beginnings we stress the health and safety of our children and teachers through practice and instruction. All children study units on nutrition, healthy habits, exercise and hygiene. They also learn about water and fire safety, stranger awareness, and safe practices in the classroom, on the playground, and at home.
All of our teachers are trained in infant/child and adult CPR and First Aid. They practice fire drills and emergency drills. They carry first aid supplies when on the playground as well as walkie-talkies in case of an emergency and are trained to handle emergencies. At Beginnings we maintain low child-teacher ratios to enhance safety on and off the playground.
We teach and monitor proper hand washing procedure and have children wash their hands frequently throughout the day. We also notify parents in the event of an illness or accident at school and we request that children not return to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
Open Door Policy
Parents are welcomed to visit their child’s classroom at any time. Parents are also encouraged to visit with the director of the school, either by appointment or as a spontaneous opportunity to chat.
Parent Involvement
We believe we have a partnership with parents in the care and education of their children. Parents are invited to join us for school programs throughout the year, parties, open houses, graduations, student art shows, our school-wide carnival and many more events for our children and their families. Parents may also read books to the children, give presentations and demonstrations that enrich the curriculum..
Communication
Teachers communicate with parents on a daily basis and in scheduled conferences several times a year and as requested.
We have a Parent Suggestion Box and Parents’ Bulletin Board, both located in the front office. Parents are encouraged to place suggestions in the box at any time. We take suggestions seriously and appreciate parent feedback.”
We offer Parent Evaluations twice a year….end of academic year and end of summer program.
