At Beginnings we stress the health and safety of our children and teachers through practice and instruction. All children study units on nutrition, healthy habits, exercise and hygiene. They also learn about water and fire safety, stranger awareness, and safe practices in the classroom, on the playground, and at home.
All of our teachers are trained in infant/child and adult CPR and First Aid. They practice fire drills and emergency drills. They carry first aid supplies when on the playground and are trained to handle emergencies. At Beginnings we maintain low child-teacher ratios to enhance safety on and off the playground.
We serve healthy snacks and check that the children are bringing healthy lunches to school. We teach and monitor proper hand washing procedure and have children wash their hands frequently throughout the day. We also notify parents in the event of an illness or accident at school and we request that children not return to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
